A new sort of wedding…

Proposal-32

Well folks, it looks like I won’t just be shooting weddings this year…

After a year & a half of being in absolute love, I’m thrilled to announce that I get to marry the best man around, my fiancé & favorite person, Benjamin Wright.

He asked me on a sunny afternoon in Nashville, Tenn., after a weekend jaunt up to visit his family & celebrate both mine & his sister-in-law’s birthdays. I was convinced he would ask me on my actual birthday, a Monday, & therefore was completely caught off guard when he drove us straight into historic Franklin & not back to our homes in Jackson that Sunday after we left.

From Franklin, we spent a slow & sweet afternoon together. He drove me to his hometown, about an hour away, for the first time to see where he grew up. Then we went back to Franklin & strolled the historic streets, popping in & out of shops until our dinner reservations at 5. At dinner, we feasted on garlic bread & what felt like 100 courses of pasta at Buca di Beppo, until we thought we could never eat again. But, we had been planning to wrap up the evening with the awesomeness that is Jeni’s Ice Cream, so after dinner we stopped by a park to watch the sun set & wait on our appetites to return. And there, the happiest thing happened. He took me to the park where we shared a special date on his birthday two years ago. The first time, we climbed up on a hill to watch the sun set & talk about life & love until the sky turned from blood orange to black, & as we left to head home, two strangers stepped up & handed us drawings they had made of us. And there it was again that we shared another special moment, because the second we sat down on that hill, he said he had a question to ask me & I knew my life would never be the same.

Needless to say, it was the best early birthday present I had ever received. I said yes, & we’re happily counting the days until our summer soiree back home in Charleston.

I am humbled & grateful & truly excited to be,

The Future Mrs. Wright.
